The Route from Ranchi to Mumbai
Standard route: NH-33 south from Ranchi through Chaibasa, entering Odisha near Rourkela, then NH-6 west through Sambalpur, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Amravati and Bhusawal, joining NH-3 (Mumbai-Agra highway) at Nashik, and into Mumbai from the north via Thane. Transit Time from Ranchi to Mumbai
Full-truck: 5-7 days from pickup to delivery. Multiple driver rest breaks are mandatory over such distance. Part-load: 8-12 days depending on consolidation and en-route stops. If you have a fixed move-in date in Mumbai, full-truck is significantly safer. Part-load moves work well if you have 2 weeks of flexibility.

Mumbai Delivery Complications
Mumbai is not like other metros for last-mile delivery. Housing societies typically require: prior notice of vehicle entry (24-48 hours), specific timing windows (usually 10 AM to 5 PM, no early morning or evening), size restrictions (some societies prohibit vehicles above 17 feet, requiring shuttle from ground level), and gate-pass paperwork. We handle all this coordination but need your society contact details in advance.
Older Mumbai neighbourhoods (Girgaon, Bandra East, Dadar) have narrow lanes requiring smaller shuttle vehicles for final 200-500 metres. This is included in our quote for these areas. Newer suburbs (Powai, Andheri West, Malad, Thane) have easier vehicle access.
Documentation for Ranchi to Mumbai Move
Standard interstate paperwork: LR (Lorry Receipt), GST invoice, e-way bill for consignment above ₹50,000 declared value. For Mumbai-specific rules, the mover may also need Maharashtra octroi paperwork if entering through octroi checkpoints (mostly abolished but some remain). Transit insurance is highly recommended for such distance – see our insurance guide. Basic transit cover at 0.5-1 percent of declared value adds ₹3,000-8,000 to your bill but protects your goods worth several lakh.
What to Prepare for the Move

You fly to Mumbai in the interim to coordinate delivery. Delivery in Mumbai on Day 5-7.
