Jharkhand is divided into 24 districts across 5 administrative divisions (locally called pramandals) – Kolhan, North Chotanagpur, South Chotanagpur, Palamu and Santhal Pargana. Surya Packers and Movers is headquartered in Ranchi and, as we tell every customer upfront, we do not run branch offices in other districts. What we do instead is dispatch every move from our Ranchi head office through the same crew, the same written-quote process and the same GST billing, no matter which district the goods are travelling to or from. This guide walks through all five divisions and links directly to our coverage page for every one of Jharkhand's 24 districts.
Kolhan Division (3 Districts)
Kolhan sits in the south-east of Jharkhand and is the state's industrial heartland, anchored by the Tata Steel plant in Jamshedpur. It is one of the most active relocation corridors we handle, largely driven by steel, engineering and ancillary manufacturing jobs.
- East Singhbhum – home to Jamshedpur, Jharkhand's largest industrial city
- West Singhbhum – headquartered at Chaibasa, with significant mining activity
- Seraikela-Kharsawan – carved out of the undivided Singhbhum district, growing steadily around Jamshedpur's periphery
North Chotanagpur Division (7 Districts)
North Chotanagpur is Jharkhand's largest division by district count and covers the state's coal and power belt, including Dhanbad's coalfields and Bokaro's steel plant. This division alone accounts for a large share of our intercity bookings within the state, given its dense industrial and administrative activity.
- Bokaro – planned steel city built around Bokaro Steel Plant
- Dhanbad – India's coal capital, home to IIT (ISM) Dhanbad
- Giridih – known for mica deposits and the Parasnath hills
- Hazaribagh – hill-station-like district with Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary
- Koderma – mica-mining district bordering Bihar
- Chatra – forested district on the Jharkhand-Bihar border
- Ramgarh – carved from Hazaribagh, close to Ranchi and well-connected by NH-33
South Chotanagpur Division (5 Districts)
South Chotanagpur is our home division – Ranchi itself sits here, along with four neighbouring districts that make up much of our local and short-distance moving volume. This is the division we know best, since our office, warehouse and most of our crew operate within it daily.
- Ranchi – the state capital and our home base
- Gumla – agricultural district south-west of Ranchi
- Khunti – birthplace of Birsa Munda, close to Ranchi
- Lohardaga – bauxite-mining district on the Ranchi-Chhattisgarh route
- Simdega – Jharkhand's southernmost district, bordering Odisha
Palamu Division (3 Districts)
Palamu sits in Jharkhand's west, bordering Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and is home to Betla National Park, one of India's earliest Project Tiger reserves. Moves to this division typically route via NH-75 and NH-98 from Ranchi.
- Palamu – headquartered at Daltonganj (Medininagar)
- Garhwa – westernmost district, bordering both UP and Chhattisgarh
- Latehar – forested district home to Betla National Park
Santhal Pargana Division (6 Districts)
Santhal Pargana lies in Jharkhand's north-east, bordering West Bengal and Bihar, and is named after the Santhal tribal community that forms a significant part of the region's population. Deoghar's Baidyanath Temple makes this one of the busier religious-tourism and pilgrim-relocation corridors we serve.
- Dumka – divisional headquarters and former state capital contender
- Deoghar – home to the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, a major pilgrimage site
- Godda – agrarian district bordering Bihar
- Jamtara – smallest district by area in the division
- Pakur – easternmost district, bordering West Bengal
- Sahibganj – river-port district on the Ganges
How We Serve All 24 Districts From One Office
We are transparent about this on every district page: Surya Packers and Movers operates from a single head office at NH-33, Booty, Dumardaga, Ranchi. We do not have satellite branches in Dhanbad, Deoghar, or any other district. What makes district-wide coverage possible is a consistent process – the same survey call, the same written quote format, the same packing materials and the same GST invoice, whether the move is to Ramgarh, 40 km away, or Pakur, over 400 km from Ranchi.
For nearby divisions like South Chotanagpur and parts of North Chotanagpur, we typically complete moves within a single day. For farther divisions like Santhal Pargana or Palamu, we plan for a one- to two-day transit window and confirm it upfront in your quote, similar to how we handle our interstate relocation guides.
