What bike transport from Ranchi costs, what packing includes, and why riding above 400 km is more expensive than most people realise.
Two-wheeler transport is where a lot of Ranchi customers try to save money by riding the bike themselves – and end up with a burnt-out engine, worn chain and 12 hours of highway fatigue. This guide covers what our bike transport service actually does, what it costs, and when it makes sense versus riding.
Short version: for anything above 400 km, bike transport is cheaper than riding once you count fuel, hotel and the mechanical service the bike will need after that ride.
Carriers require the fuel tank drained to a safe minimum – usually under 500 ml. Full tanks are a fire risk on a stacked carrier and are not permitted. Drain at your fuel station or a garage before pickup, or we can do it at handover.
Handlebar mirrors, mobile mounts, GPS units and any add-on accessories come off before packing. They are the parts most likely to break during loading.
Every vulnerable surface – tank, fairings, headlight, tail light, exhaust – gets foam padding secured with tape. This is the primary protection layer.
Sports bikes (KTM Duke, Ninja, Hayabusa), cruisers (Royal Enfield 650, Harley), superbikes and any bike with a costly body kit get a full wooden crate around the foam-wrapped bike. Extra cost, but eliminates 99% of transit damage risk.
Approximate prices for standard bikes (100–250cc, no crating):
Premium bikes with crating: add ₹1,500–₹3,000. Bundled with household goods: usually 15–25% cheaper than standalone.
Riding a 150cc bike from Ranchi to Delhi (1,300 km):
Bike transport at ₹4,500 is cheaper, and you arrive by air/train fresh instead of exhausted.
Keep originals of RC and insurance with you. A photocopy is enough for transit. We provide a consignment note that travels with the bike and photo condition reports at both ends.
Coordinator tip: For any bike you love, spring for wooden crating on distances above 800 km. The extra ₹1,500–₹3,000 is nothing next to the cost of repainting a tank or replacing a fairing.
Most Ranchi customers who ship a bike are also shifting household goods or a car. Bundled bookings save money and put everything under one coordinator. See our car transport service and home shifting service for what packages include.
Bike transport aligns with our part-load schedule. Typical delivery windows:
Standard transit coverage is available but optional. Fair-market-value coverage for common bikes; premium bikes may need declared-value coverage. Read our moving insurance guide before deciding.
